The Colombian case

International Sugar Organization (ISO)

Based in London, the International Sugar Organization, ISO, is the only intergovernmental body dedicated to improving conditions in the world sugar market.

The ISO administers the International Sugar Agreement, ISA, negotiated internationally in 1992, of which Colombia is a member. This year, Colombia was chosen for the first time as the venue for the ISO No. 58 Council, due to its advances in Innovation, Diversification and Sustainability.

  • Incidence in environmentally sustainable technologies for production of sugar, ethanol and energy
  • Obtaining other products with added value from agricultural crop residues (RAC for its acronym in Spanish)

Institutions dedicated to specialized work in matters of representation, research, training and international marketing of sugar in Colombia

 

Asocaña: Association of Sugarcane Growers of Colombia, which represents the agribusiness sector of sugarcane, and promotes evolution and sustainable development.

 

 

Cenicaña: Sugar Cane Research Center of Colombia, a scientific body that favors innovation in agribusiness by managing research and development projects in accordance with the strategic planning of the productive sector.

 

 

Tecnicaña: Colombian Association of Sugar Cane Technicians, responsible for the permanent training and transfer of valuable content to technicians in the sector through the dissemination of knowledge at the forefront of technological, diversified and sustainable development.

 

 

Ciamsa: C.I. de Azucares y Mieles S.A., strategic allies in the logistics and commercialization of the national and international industry of both importers and exporters, works continuously focused on adapting to change and offering solutions with added value to the sector.
